At 3 am last night a dozen armed Israeli soldiers poured into the village of Bil’in. They knocked on three doors, the first, a home across from the mosque. Wakkas Mansour, 17 years old, was detained. Mansour currently has three brothers currently serving time in Israeli jail. The second home they went to was Malik Yassin, a 19 years old who works night shifts in a neighboring village, was absent. The soldiers left the frightened family with no arrests made.
Mansours’ fate will be decided after hours of interrogation. Most likely, officials will be legally obligated to set him free, but not after a few days in jail and a bail out charge of 7,000 shekels. The night raids in the village continue as we anticipate the 12 year anniversary of peaceful protests.
